Andrea is a native of Alexandria and originally began her career in Athletic Training during a mentorship with Dr. Brand and Alexandria Orthopedics while also shadowing in the Jefferson High School athletic training room. She received her degree in Athletic Training from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2006. She completed her Masters in Business Administration in Health Care from the University of St Thomas in 2012. Andrea joined Heartland Orthopedic Specialists as a Certified Athletic Trainer in June of 2006.

Other experiences include research on “The Relationship between age and the IKDC Knee Score” which ended up being a published article and a poster presenation at the bi-annual ISAKOS meeting in 2005 with Dr. Brand, along with presented at the 2005 Minnesota Orthopedic Association. Andrea completed an internship with Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists of Edina, MN in the physician extender setting. She was also selected to present an abstract and had a poster presentation at the 2011 AAOS national meeting.

Andrea is Clinical Services Director and Sports Medicine Coordinator which involves a variety of responsibilities including oversight of the sports medicine program and daily operations of the clinic and Physical Therapy Dept; management of staff; marketing; scheduling; reporting; purchasing; and sitting on various hospital committees. Previously she has worked in the Cast Room and Physician Extender roles and still enjoys filling in occasionally and working with patients. She has also worked with the PEAK Performance program in past summers. Andrea attended the Titleist Golf Performance Institute and is a certified Golf Fitness Instructor.

Andrea currently provides event coverage for Jefferson Senior High School; specifically the volleyball, girl’s and boy’s hockey teams, in addition to oversight of all sports medicine programs and activities. She previously worked with the athletes of Brandon-Evansville High School.

Andrea enjoys various outdoor activities and sports (especially hockey and golf) in her spare time. She also serves on the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice's Athletic Training Advisory Council, is the Chair of the Public Relations committee for the Minnesota Athletic Trainers Association, is on the Needs Assessment Committee for the American Association of Orthopedic Executives, is a board member for the Alexandria Cardinal Athletic Foundation and helps coach girl’s hockey with the Alexandria Area Hockey Association.

Andrea's certifications include: Certified Athletic Trainer, Orthopedic Technician Certified, Titleist Performance Institute Certified- Golf Fitness Instructor, and BLS for Healthcare Providers from American Heart Association.

Her professional Memberships include: National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA), Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association (MATA), National Association Orthopedic Technologist (NAOT), and the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE), Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), Minnesota Medical Group Management Association (MMGMA).
